FILET HEART AFGHAN
* * This is my original pattern * *

Here is a picture of one "square" of the afghan.

Here is a picture of the completed afghan.

MATERIALS: Size I hook, any color 4 ply worsted weight yarn.

SIZE: One "square" using the chart measures approximately 9 1/2" long and 8" high.

DIRECTIONS:

The chart for this afghan is pictured below. You can download a .doc file of this chart here. FILET HEART CHART

Determine how wide you want your afghan to be and determine how many times the pattern must be repeated across in order to achieve that width. You can determine the number of beg chs using the following formula: Number of blocks across times 3 plus 4. For example, if you just made one
"square" across, you would ch 43 (13 blocks times 3 plus 4 more chains). If you repeated the pattern twice across you would ch 82 (26 blocks times 3 plus 4 more) and so on.

After making the correct number of chs you start by making a dc in the 7th ch from the hook. Then follow the chart across, by doing ch 2, sk 2 sts, dc across the row. Ch 5 and turn at the end of each row and complete first open sp by dc in next dc. You complete the closed spaces of the chart by making 2 dc in the next sp and then dc in next dc.

H = open space O = closed space
