FDM1650 Rapid Prototyping System

Using our exclusive Fused Deposition Modeling technology, the FDM1650 lets you turn a design concept into a prototype. The fast, precise benchtop system generates three-dimensional prototypes from 3D CAD software data. You can test the prototypes for fit and form--even simulate product performance without the excessive cost and time of traditional prototyping methods. Users typically report 85-90% savings in labor costs and time on medium- to high-complexity designs.

The FDM1650 features significant enhancements to the FDM product line. You'll find advances in throughput and processing software, as well as availability of new materials. You can build parts up to 254 x 254 x 254 mm (10 x 10 x 10 in) with an accuracy of ±.127 mm (±.005 in).

We upgraded our firmware and our proprietary QuickSlice software to increase throughput by three times that of previous FDM systems. The user-friendly software processes .STL files in minutes. It automatically slices and orients the file for the build process. The software package also includes SupportWorks, which determines whether the part needs supports and generates them if necessary. Tool paths are created with the touch of a button.

Designed for the office environment, you can incorporate the FDM1650 into your engineering department without any special facility requirements. It's accessible directly from any workstation on your CAD network. The system operates in the temperature range of 180 to 220 degrees Fahrenheit. The entire FDM process is environmentally safe and requires no cleanup between jobs. Designers can create multiple versions of a part design quickly without having to post cure the parts.

Our non-toxic modeling filaments include ABS, a medical grade of ABS, investment casting wax and a line of thermoplastic elastomers. ABS prototypes have 85% of the strength of an actual molded part; you can mark, sand, paint or drill them. You can even install and run them, for the best proof possible that a design really works.

The FDM1650 system is both versatile and affordable. It runs unattended during the build cycle. The system's modularity allows you to add capabilities as your needs develop. Best of all, the FDM1650 lets you choose the right material, speed and parameters for your specific modeling requirements.
