WHAT’S HOT DOWN UNDER

Want to know what’s going to happen in the world’s coolest street? We profile two of the major storylines for the coming month…

HOT STUFF

They are two of the sexiest residents in Ramsay Street, so it’s hardly surprising that Joel Samuels and Felicity Scully are set to get it on in a major way. Neighbours.com caught up with Daniel MacPherson, who plays Joel, and secured a sneak preview of what’s to come…

Neighbours.com: Daniel, Joel and Felicity have lived in the same street for a year now, and there’s been no hint of an attraction between the two. What happens to change that?

Daniel: Joel has always been aware of Felicity – I mean, she’s a very attractive girl – but because he was going out with Dione he never though twice about her. But then Lance ropes them into starring in a science fiction movie he is making. Joel and Felicity have to kiss, and let’s juts say they do a little more acting than is strictly necessary!

Neighbours.com: Do they acknowledge the attraction straight away, or does it go unspoken?

Daniel: No, Joel backs away altogether. Felicity is a school girl and probably a little too young for him, so he tries to pretend it never happened at all. But that’s not easy when Lance and Toadie are constantly having a go at him, and reminding him of this big crush Felicity has.

Neighbours.com: How does Felicity react?

Daniel: Felicity is the opposite – she decides that she’s going to go for him, which makes things really awkward for him. But there’s a part of him that enjoys it too!

Neighbours.com: One of Flick’s tactics is to invite Joel to be her partner at the Erinsborough High debutante ball. But she’s not being entirely truthful about it, is she?

Daniel: No. Flick asks Joel to be her partner, and says it’s because she can’t find anyone else to go with. But she’s actually already asked Paul, and as you can imagine, it leads to a bit of strife!

Neighbours.com: We’re not going to ask you to spoil the fun and reveal any more than that, but are you enjoying the storyline?

Daniel: Can’t complain! I mean, there are worse jobs than having to kiss Holly Valance, aren’t there?

THE BEST OF ENEMIES

While Joel has his hands full with Felicity, his ex-girlfriend, Dione Bliss, has problems of her own when she moves in with Teresa Bell. We caught up with the lovely Madeleine West, who plays Dione, and got the low down…

Neighbours.com: Hi Madeleine, before we get into the nitty gritty of the Dione/Tess storyline, what’s the mood between Joel and Dione at the time that she moves into Ramsay Street?

Madeleine: Very tense! Dione desperately wants them to remain friends, but Joel finds the dynamic awkward – especially when Tess, another friend, is brought into the equation.

Neighbours.com: Is there any suggestion that either of them might like to get back together?

Madeleine: Joel seems keen to give it another try, but Dee, who feels certain it’s not meant to be, is staunchly refusing to change her mind – even though there is still a definite attraction.

Neighbours.com: Dione and Tess don’t exactly hit it off as flatmates, What happens here?

Madeleine: Let’s just day these two are ‘The Odd Couple 2000’. Their attitude to home maintenance is world’s apart, and this causes a certain friction. They have very different ideas about things, and it gets to the point where it looks like their friendship may end over it.

Neighbours.com: We know you’re not allowed to reveal any more storyline information, so we’ll leave it at that fornow. But finally, are you enjoying your character finally living in the street?

Madeleine: For sure! It allows me to drop in on any of my favourite Neighbours whenever I feel like it!
