Santana High School Shooting Victims
The Santana High School shooting rampage left two students dead and 13 people wounded. Learn more about the victims:

Killed

  • Randy Gordon, 17, a senior, shot in the back and pronounced dead at Grossmont Hospital. Was a distance runner on the school track team. Planned to join the military. "That guy would never say anything bad about anyone," friend Kevin Wilson said. You always think about having Randy around. He was a great guy. He was very smart, followed politics, always up on things. He was going somewhere."

  • Bryan Zuckor, 14, shot in back of head in campus bathroom. Described as an avid skateboarder and bright kid who was close to his mother. Had two younger siblings, one a toddler. "You've got to be joking. It's Bryan. He falls down and gets back up," Landon Scott said when he learned of his friend's death.

    Injured

  • Scott Marshall, 16, junior athlete competes in shotput and discus. Described as a straight-A student who is well liked by his peers. Ran across campus quad with bullet wound to back. In fair condition at Sharp Memorial Hospital.

  • Travis Tate-Gallegos, 18. Passionate about his 1995 Mustang. Treated for gunshot wound to the lip and released from Scripps Mercy Hospital. Was recovering at home of fellow victim Barry Gibson.

  • Melisa McNulty, 15, sophomore. Loves poetry, active with school drama club and band. She was shot in the arm and still requires surgery and plastic surgery. She was transferred from Grossmont Hospital to Balboa Hospital. Melisa is expected to be released from the hospital Monday.

    Trevor Edwards

  • Trevor Edwards (pictured, right), 17, junior. Skateboarder and musician in band called "Experience." Recently had run-in with shooting suspect at area skatepark. Treated for gunshot wound to neck at Sharp Memorial Hospital. He is in good condition and is expected to be released from the hospital soon.

  • Raymond Serrato, 17, senior. Plays on Santana football team. Was to have started volleyball team practice on Monday. After shooting, dove into government classroom saying, "My back hurts." In good condition in intensive care at UCSD Medical Center with gunshot wound to a lung.

  • Heather Cruz, 15, sophomore. Treated for shrapnel wound to left knee and released from Alvarado Hospital Medical Center.

    Barry Gibson

  • Barry Gibson (pictured, right), 18, senior. Wounded in leg when returned to help Tate-Gallegos. Aspiring film student. Treated for gunshot wound to left thigh and released from Sharp Memorial Hospital.

  • James Jackson, 19, senior. Described as a popular, outgoing student who is into drama. Member of school choir. "I looked down and I saw blood. That's when I knew I had been shot," he said. Treated for gunshot wound to right hip and released Monday from Scripps Mercy Hospital.

  • Triston Salladay, 14, described by a friend as funny. Treated for gunshot wounds to the chest at UCSD Medical Center. Released on Tuesday.

  • Matthew Heier, 17, senior. Member of volleyball team and past member of school water polo team. Has freshman brother at Santana. Treated at Sharp Memorial Hospital and released.

  • Karla Leyva, 16, sophomore. Treated for gunshot wound to ring finger of right hand. Treated at Grossmont Hospital and released.

    Peter Ruiz

  • Tim Estes, 33, special education student teacher and assistant football coach. Treated for a gunshot wound to the torso and released Tuesday from Sharp Memorial Hospital.

  • Peter Ruiz (pictured, right), 22, campus supervisor. Was among first on scene. Studies law enforcement at Grossmont Community College. Works part time in Mission Valley clothing store. Treated for superficial gunshot wounds and released Tuesday from Scripps Mercy Hospital.
