Building on our heritage
In 1983, Lotus helped launch the personal computing revolution. Our Lotus 1-2-3, the electronic spreadsheet that became the first PC "killer ap," convinced people that the time was right to take computing out of the data center and onto the desktop. Millions of copies later, 1-2-3 was in use around the world
Lotus soon recognized the limitations of the isolated PC and pressed on with a new vision: group communications software for workgroup computing. With the release of Lotus Notes in 1989, Lotus was again creating the market and again revolutionizing the way people worked with computers, and together.
In 1995, Lotus joined with IBM, the world's largest technology company. Today, as one of the four brands of the IBM Software group, Lotus software draws on the deep research and development capabilities of IBM to continue our proud heritage of innovation.
