I once heard someone say that they would never slash Albus Dumbledore with anyone, because "who wants to think about sex scenes with someone who's like-100 years old?"

But is it always about what the person looks like? After all, can't it occasionally be about love and trust between two people who have known each other for years? That's the appeal of Snape/Dumbledore slash in my eyes. Dumbledore appears to be one of the only people Snape seems to trust, Snape listens to him, respects his opinion and obeys him without question. Dumbledore also seems to trust Snape with many things. They have secrets between themselves, some secrets we as readers already know of, and some that have only been hinted at.

Not to mention the fact that Dumbledore allows Snape to stay at Hogwarts, despite the way he treats his students. Some of this can be explained by the idea that Snape may very well be killed by the Death Eaters if he were to ever truly leave the protection that Hogwarts offers to him, and that's as good an explanation as any. If you aren't into this pairing, that's fine, but these are also reasons that make slashing these two seem logical to some of us.

Dumbledore is usually a generous, loving man. Imagine a frightened boy turns up on his doorstep 20-25 odd years ago, probably asking for asylum, wouldn't the Headmaster do his best to take care of him? And the boy may misinterpret the signals because he hasn't been loved or cared for in such a long time.
