Obscurus Fiction Drive
Criteria:
Any couple (or non-couple)
Any rating
Harry Potter with or without any crossover fandom
I also thought to make this interesting and give you the option of participating in a challenge too (just in case inspiration is taking its time in hitting).
The challenge:
Select your couple and write a New Year’s Eve story featuring one or more of the below:
Mistletoe
One too many drinks of Fire Whiskey
A sexy red dress
An unplanned public declaration of love
Karaoke (pick the perfect song for your character – must be Christmas themed)
A game of strip Charades (e.g. boys vs girls)
Someone getting caught with their pants down (literally)
Someone mooning Dumbledore on a broom (if it is based during Hogwarts’ years)
A dare from one of the Weasley Twins that ends up with someone locked in a cupboard with the boy/girl of their dreams, awkward silences and the snog to end all snogs.
A cute family night in (future fic or past fic if about the MWPP or Molly and Arthur Weasley) with talks around the fireplace and drinks of mulled wine/hot chocolate – what did they talk about?
The most important thing about the Fiction Drive is that you enjoy yourselves.
If you are planning on submitting a story for this there is no special category, just post the title of the story and the category you have posted it to as a comment under the News Story Fic Drive
Closing Date: Tuesday January 4, 2005
Welcome to Obscurus, a site for all Harry Potter fiction. Also the official site for Cauldron Chronicles.
Submission Rules
We have very basic submission rules:
1. No Mary Sues.
2. Please check your grammar and spelling.
3. No real person fiction about the cast of the Harry Potter films.
4. All stories must be over 500 words (song words are not included in word count).
5. Multi-part stories with chapters shorter than 400 words will not be accepted.
6. If your story is under 500 words there is a new section for 400-500 word fiction.
7. No bestiality in any way or form.
8. Authors please do not save Word HTML files to upload your stories to the site. Also, please do not use any other program that uses < p > tag (paragraph tags) in the HTML. Obscurus is not friendly with it and we wish to avoid this problem. It takes a considerable period of time to edit the formatting to make sure of neat uploads.
If your story is turned down you can appeal. Just because one story has been turned down does not mean that all your stories will be rejected. Feel free to resubmit.

Fic Drive |
We are following in the footsteps of many other archives. For Christmas/New Year we are doing a Fic Drive. No rules, just have fun.
Any couple, any rating, just follow the archive guidelines and get writing. The deadline is January 4th 2005 (the day that I return to work after Christmas holidays).
If you want any information don't hesitate to email me or one of the admins (all information regarding them can be found on the Help page). |

Beta Readers |
We are still looking:
Do you know your Gryffindor from your Griffindor? Know Weasley from Weaseley? Do you have what it takes to be a beta reader on offer for those around you who need it?
If you know you have what it takes to be a beta reader please email me. |

Reviews |
I really didn't think that I would have to write this on my own site, but here goes.
When writing a review, please try and spell everything correctly.
When writing a review, please make sure that any complaints you have about the fic have been reported to Complaints and you have something to back them up first.
When writing a review for a fic and you have something nasty or unreasonable to say - DON'T.
When reading a fic that you have plans to review, please read the disclaimer first.
Thank you for your time. |

Feedback |
Let the authors know that you're out there. Send them reviews for their stories.
You don't even have to sign in, just send anonymous "I am really enjoying this," or "I can't wait to find out what happens". Just whatever you do don't send "More now," or "You're taking ages to update" or flames. Flames will not be tolerated. |

Self Promotion |
Please feel free to put your site links in your profile but do not 'pimp' your site in reviews and your stories etc. It is a sign of extremely bad manners to promote your site/ask authors if you can put their fiction on your site in your reviews. |

Formatting Your Stories |
Did you know that you don't need to format paragraphs and spaces in eFiction?
Since the improvements, eFiction can now recognise your carriage returns (okay, am now revisiting my days using a manual typewriter). To mark a new paragraph just do exactly what you do in your wordprocessing software. |

Completed your fic? |
Did you know that if you have completed your story you can show that to your readers?
Simply login, go to edit/delete stories in your personal menu and click on the highlighted No this will then change to a Yes and it's done. |
