Bird poll to take flight in Capital

BIRDWATCHERS in Edinburgh have the chance to meet bird experts and learn more about a national bird survey.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds has appealed for people to keep an eye on their gardens as part of the Big Garden Bird Watch.

The event will take place on January 29 to 30 to monitor bird populations across the UK.

Last year, 27,000 Scots took part in the Big Garden Bird Watch.

And Edinburgh-based bird-watchers can get hold of more information at an RSPB evening next week.

The Meet the RSPB event is to be held at Blackhall library on Monday at 7.45pm.

The event will offer the chance for the public to find out more about the charity’s work and history.
