Cell phone use and driving

"Hang up and drive!," has become a popular bumper sticker slogan, and for good reason. University of Minnesota researchers have found that using a cell phone may impair drivers more than alcohol.


Curb your refined carbs--not your "good" carbs

Only three categories of food exist: protein, fat, and carbohydrates. Carbohydrates have been painted as the heavy in the diet wars, especially by the Atkins diet and its spinoffs. But there is no heavy. We have to eat some carbohydrates; as with fats and even protein, the key is to choose wisely.

The National Science Foundation has announced a $19.5 million grant to the University of Minnesota's Institute for Mathematics and its Applications (IMA), making IMA the top-funded math institute in the country.

7/25/2005 - Forty-two high school students will undergo six days of intensive journalism training when they attend J Camp, a free training program designed for young people of color, Aug. 12-17, at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. The Asian American Journalist Association (AAJA) is the chief sponsor of the camp. Students will attend classes and workshops in Murphy Hall, home of the U of M School of Journalism and Mass
