Trust is a way for social beings to cope with the uncertainty they face in everyday life. We rely on people we trust to give us information about new people. We are able to compose their input and come up with a judgment.
In social networks that emerge on the web, the chance of encountering an individual we do not know is much higher than in our "real" lives. When explicit trust ratings are specified on social networks, can these be automatically composed so that a new value can be inferred? This project looks at metrics for inferring trust over web based social networks, and applications of these ratings. |
