What a surprise packet was Dan Ramsay. He turned up on Madge's doorstep after years in Queensland with barely a word from him the whole time. She could hardly turn away her own father, and in truth I think the surprise was not altogether unpleasant for his family here in Erinsborough. After all he had grandchildren here that he'd not seen in years.

Of course then the reason for his visit here became apparent. Since Dan and Edna, his wife, had retired to Brisbane together things had not been going well. Turns out he was in Erinsborough just to get away from her. And that wasn't the only surprise Dan and Edna had for us.

It wasn't long before Edna followed Dan, and they quickly put their differences aside. I'm sure Madge and Max expected they would. What nobody expected was the announcement that they, in fact, had never been married. After fifty years together Dan finally admitted Edna was the girl for him and they tied the knot. Quite romantic it was.
