The Society

The Brisbane Valley Historical Society Inc. was established in 1983 as a non-profit association formed to preserve the heritage of the people of the Brisbane Valley and its surrounding areas.

The society objectives are:-

  • To collect & preserve the history of the area known as the Brisbane Valley
  • To collect & preserve such items of machinery, equipment, appliances, tools & other artifacts & documents as are applicable to the history of the Brisbane Valley
  • To establish a small Museum for the storage & display of such items.

We are presently trying to collect details of the original families who came to live in the area with regards to "Family History".

BVHS headquarters are located at Caboonbah Homestead. The society currently holds a 30 year lease of this property through the South-East Queensland Water Board.

Meetings of the Society are held on the third Saturday of every month at 1:30pm in the old Esk Courthouse (built 1905) on the Caboonbah Homestead site.
