Nay, the Evil Queen (her mother) told her to use henchmen - and she said she didn't need any.
After her mother tells her to get some henchmen, namely Daniel, she returns to Danial and "apologies" (or what would pass for one, though not the least bit sincere!) to get Daniel to help her.

The answer will be told/shown in Season Two. Since in Season One people got to know Peter and Grayson, and their quirks. Season Two will focus on developing the "villains" more; as well as continuing to develop Peter and Grayson.

Mountain Dwarves... and Pawl notices they're different than standard mountain dwarves. The kind he encountered would be on par with the "Druegar" (I believe that's the correct spelling - essentially "Dwarf Versions" of the "Drow Elf", if you will).

The Talking Sword is considered a Holy Avenger, really.
Along with more character development - Season Two will begin unfolding more about the "Sword of Destiny" if you will.

A general theme with Neverending Nights is nothing is what you'd expect. A ranger who gets lost? A fighter who charges into combat backwards, and bases most strategies around 'This would be a good time to run'; a drunken wizard; another wizard with a "Sith" like title; an angry talking sword; goblins that like to dance...
So... the Beholder was done with a "lisp" voice. However, it sounded too much like Mario as Daniel, so through some effects, the voice was modified, but still pretty sissy sounding.
