(Sorry, I can't provide videos or any other materials, so please don't write to ask!)

Some article sort of things about general, historical aspects of schools television in the United Kingdom. All with badly photocopied old pictures and the occasional screen grab.

NOTE: This website is all about Look and Read. In writing about schools programmes generally, I will wherever possible twist it round to focus on BBC Schools, and Look and Read in particular.

On the screen it says&10;BBC&10;TELEVISION&10;FOR&10;SCHOOLS History
The beginnings of schools TV, starting with radio broadcasting in 1924, and with full details of the experimental programmes of the 1950s. Part of what may possible be a full history of British schools broadcasting if I can be bothered with it.

Longest running series (there's a clue in the picture) Longest running series
What's the longest-running schools TV programme? Readers of this website should be able to guess the answer to that already...

Videos and recording Videos and recording
You may record this programme, provided you destroy it within one year -- a brief history of the stupid schools' recording rules, including details of all available Look and Read videos.

This is Glob from 'Watch'. He has nothing at all to do with the content of this page. Worldwide
Britain was not the first country to start doing TV programmes for schools. Nor was it the second, third or fourth. This page charts the introduction of schools TV in about 30 countries around the world.
