How
would congestion charging work?
|
|
Edinburgh
is holding its first-ever
referendum in February. If approved in the
referendum, congestion charging will begin in
2006.
There
would be one £2 fee a day, no matter how
many times a vehicle crossed a charging cordon
– the charge would only apply to in-bound
trips. |
It
is estimated that congestion charging will raise
£760 million over 20 years. The Council
must use this revenue solely to fund transport
improvements. Around 45% of the revenue would
be spent in neighbouring local authorities.

Charging Frequently Asked Questions, view

Survey map of the cordons and read the Congestion
Charging Order (pdf) or Congestion
Charging Order (Word).

Ordnance Survey map and Draft Congestion Charging
Order are available in Adobe Acrobat's Portable
