Forget the usual 'let's put on a show' plot and delight in the song and dance numbers. For most of the time, Astaire is in a sailor suit - he's an ex-dancer who has joined the Navy - until he dons his tuxedo at the climax for a duet with Rogers in one of Berlin's loveliest romantic songs, 'Let's Face the Music and Dance', and is with Ginger again in 'Let Yourself Go', both dancing with great verve. The other lovers, Scott and Hilliard, are dull.
