Anonymous writes "J.J. Abrams, who co-created ABC's hit SF series Lost, told SCI FI Wire that he's already coming up with ideas for a second season. "We obviously know what we're doing for the rest of this year," Abrams said in an interview at ABC's winter press preview in Universal City, Calif. "We definitely have big ideas about what we want to do down the line, past just the second season, and a lot of ideas for the second season already."

Networks Jumping on Offbeat Pilot Wagon |

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - A little desertion and a little desperation -- be it on a remote island or a suburban cul-de-sac -- has been very good for the drama development business this year.
The emergence of two distinctive, genre-busting megahits on ABC this season -- the ensemble black-comedy "Desperate Housewives" and "Lost," a suspense thriller with a dash of sci-fi -- have been the biggest creative force to hit primetime in a long time -- since "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" five years ago.
Studio and network executives, writers and producers say the "Lost" and "Desperate Housewives" effect has been most beneficial in whetting the appetite of buyers at the six broadcast networks for more offbeat, convention-defying ideas and a little less of just-the-facts-ma'am procedurals.

Lost's Band Plays On |
Posted by gertiebeth Thursday, February 03 @ 08:23:47 CST - 911 reads
For a band that doesn't really exist, Drive Shaft sure is getting a lot of exposure.
The fictional rock group of Lost castaway Charlie (played by Dominic Monaghan) was featured in a flashback episode in the fall, and the band's single "You All Everybody" was recently heard blasting from Sydney's stereo on Alias, another ABC Wednesday-night show.
There's a music video at www.abc.com, and even a faux fan website, www.driveshaftband.com, complete with bios, photos, a discography and dedications to its missing bassist. "We've been talking about putting out an official album," says Lost executive producer Bryan Burk.
Groupies can catch the band again in Lost's Charlie-centric installment next Wednesday at 8 pm/ET. "As long as Lost is alive, so is Drive Shaft," Burk promises. Rock on.

Presumed dead, pilot on 'Lost' has hopes |

Usually, when a TV character is last seen hanging from a high tree branch, at least partly devoured by an unseen and unexplained monster, the actor playing that part can assume that his next paycheck will have to come from elsewhere.
It helps somewhat, though, when your character is on an innovative show like "Lost," and when that show's executive producer is your best friend since childhood.
Several months after an unnamed pilot (Greg Grunberg) crashed a plane full of passengers into an uncharted and mysterious island and launched the "Lost" phenomenon, the actor is hoping his alter ego is primed for an unlikely comeback.
