See what you're missing |

While the fall season has served up plenty of duds, 10 shows have captivated us. If you haven't checked these out yet, it's time to get up to speed and start watching.
Maureen Ryan and Sid Smith
1. "Lost" 7 p.m., Wednesday, ABC
What's the deal? Plane crash survivors are stranded in the tropics, and the lead female strandee (Evangeline Lilly, below) is cagey about her criminal past. Oh, and there's some kind of killer beastie in the forest.
Why it's worth your time: Plots, subplots, cliffhangers and flashbacks all make a comeback in this scenic island thriller. Imagine "Survivor" with more attractive people and a better plot. Every week we can't wait to see what happens next.
Visit The Chicago Tribune to read about the other 9 shows.

Lilly as Lois Lane? |
Posted by gertiebeth Monday, October 18 @ 21:32:18 CDT - 683 reads
From JoBlo.com
After Latino Review had their SUPERMAN scoop this weekend, we at JoBlo have a SUPERMAN scoop of our own. I won't go out on a limb with the amount of confidence the guys at Latino had yet, but I've got a source says he knows who's close to getting the part of Lois Lane. Our source, who requested anonymity, claims that director Bryan Singer has whittled the casting down to four candidates and at the top of that pack is Evangeline Lilly, who has been in auditions for the part for the past few weeks. The name might not ring a bell immediately (it didn't for me) but then our scooper told me she's the star of ABC's current hit series "Lost". Lilly stars as Kate, the mysterious and sexy former criminal stuck on the island. The 25-year-old actress started as a Ford model and sequed into acting, though "Lost" has been her only major part. Our scooper also says that the other three actresses up for the part of Lois Lane are "name" actresses with the current debate being whether to cast the unknown (Lilly) or a more recognizable actress to offset the newcomer Brandon Routh as Superman. Singer reportedly wanted to cast two relative unknowns as Superman and Lois but hasn't made a final decision yet. I will keep digging and hopefully find out more on this situation as it develops. Thanks to our "He Who Shall Not Be Named" scooper for the report.

Secrets of Lost (From TV Guide) |
Posted by gertiebeth Monday, October 18 @ 12:58:58 CDT - 1800 reads
Lost might have easily been MIA by now. The new ABC drama's concept — plane-crash survivors fight to stay alive on an eerily remote island in the Pacific — seemed too gimmicky to generate sufficient juice for a weekly series. But leave it to J.J. Abrams, the dizzyingly inventive architect of Alias, and partner Damon Lindelof (Crossing Jordan) to create a genre-bending, character-driven thriller that, in five short weeks, has managed to become TV's most addictive new drama. Suddenly, anyone worth his watercooler is buzzing about Lost's world: What crime might feisty fugitive Kate (Evangeline Lilly) have committed? How exactly did Locke (Terry O'Quinn), a paraplegic before the doomed Oceanic Airlines flight, regain the use of his legs and become the island's lean, mean, wild boar-killing machine? Is Jack's (Matthew Fox) drunken, demanding dad really dead? And what is that unseen, malevolent monster that made mincemeat out of the plane's pilot? "We know," Lindelof teases. "And we promise by the end of the first year, the audience will know at least a little more." The Lost league may be cryptic, but that didn't deter TV Guide from digging up juicy show secrets. — Shawna Malcolm

The Sandy Scoop on the Show You Can't Miss
How good is Lost?
So good I still can't shut up about it.
And neither can anyone else I know. So, now that you've all seen enough episodes to be fully, completely and obscenely obsessed (you are, aren't you?), allow me to share with you the secrets you don't know, which come straight from the cast and creator.
I shared some of 'em in a segment which ran on Wednesday's E! News Live, which you can see here. But I have more. Shhh...

Pearson: With new fall shows, the channel surf's up |
Posted by gertiebeth Saturday, October 16 @ 12:53:58 CDT - 478 reads
Lost (ABC): Critics have raved about this show, and I agree. What's not to like about a premise that finds a plane crashing on a deserted island, and 48 survivors having to battle personality disorders and some unknown beast lurking in the brush? The other day I tried to explain the premise to somebody who'd never seen Lost, and they looked at me like I was crazy. OK, so my psychiatrist always looks at me that way. The fact is Lost is better than it sounds, and Matthew Fox leads the stellar cast as a doctor/peacemaker.
