Discover the facts about 'Lost' |
THE PREMISE: An airliner headed from Sydney, Australia, to the United States breaks up and crashes on a lush, mysteriously remote Pacific island. "Lost" traces the suspenseful adventure odyssey of the crash's 48 traumatized survivors, focusing most closely on a diverse band of 14 castaways and Jack (Matthew Fox, "Party of Five"), a handsome doctor who quickly became the group's reluctant leader.
WHAT'S HAPPENED SO FAR: After the harrowing airline disaster and its chaotic aftermath, we've learned that the castaways are stuck on a very strange, possibly unknown island populated by a terrifying, otherworldly creature. Also, each survivor possesses a secret or two. For instance, pretty, strong-willed Kate (Evangeline Lilly) is an outlaw, handcuffed and in the custody of a U.S. Marshal when the plane broke apart and crashed.
TONIGHT: We discover more about Locke (Terry O'Quinn, "Alias"), the bald, middle-aged castaway, a philosophical soul who may believe that destiny has chosen him to play a special role.
OTHER KEY CHARACTERS: Charlie (Dominic Monoghan, "Lord of the Rings"), a wisecracking rock 'n' roller with a drug habit; young, curious schoolboy Walt (Malcolm David Kelly) and his protective father, Michael (Harold Perrineau, "Oz"); Sayid (Naveen Andrews), a poised, tech-savvy Muslim who quickly encountered some racial profiling prejudice; Jin (Daniel Dae Kim) and Sun (Yunjin Kim), a Korean couple who speak no English; Hurley (Jorge Garcia, "Becker"), an obese maverick with long hair and a droll sense of humor; Claire (Emilie de Ravin), who is eight months pregnant and suffering pre-motherhood anxiety; suburban princess Shannon (Maggie Grace) and her estranged, controlling brother Boone (Ian Somerhalder), and Sawyer (Josh Holloway), a temperamental macho man with a short fuse.
