2004 International Symposium Guide
Objective In April 2001, Shimane's Iwami Silver Mine was listed on Unesco's provisional World Heritage list. While preparations to gain full World Heritage listing by 2007 are well underway, many key aspects of this classification are not fully understood: What does listing as a World Heritage site mean? What will change if the Mine gains World Heritage status? This International symposium will invite World Heritage specialists to provide the latest information and deepen understanding of the implications of World Heritage listing.
