In addition to the properties listed above, Japan has made a list of sites on her territory that she feels meet the standards to be inscribed on to the World Heritage List; and she has presented this 'Tentative List' to The World Heritage Committee for evaluation.
There are five properties on the Japanese Tentative List; Hikone Castle and Ancient Kamakura (both nominated in 1992), Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine, the Cultural Heritage of Hiraizumi and the Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range (nominated in 2001).
The Committee requests State Parties to submit such a list of properties it intends to nominate for inscription to the World Heritage List during the following five to ten years. This list will enable the committee to evaluate within the widest possible context the 'outstanding universal value' of each property nominated to the List.
It has been decided not to consider Cultural Heritage nominations unless such a list of cultural properties has been submitted.
