In the autumn we bid welcome to a new main sponsor. HKS Scandinavia chose to support Save the Children Denmark – with special emphasis on the work for the children of Greenland.

Our employees feel that it is very meaningful that we use some of our surplus to support humanitarian work," says Henrik Wiingård Madsen, Managing Director of HKS Scandinavia and father to five children between 1 and 5 years of age.

Red Barnet sponsor: SASSAS - Save the Children Denmark's primary sponsor for six years
"At SAS we are quite aware that SAS is a part of society and must therefore act in a responsible manner. We want our customers and employees to know that they are flying with and working for a responsible airline that acknowledges a humanitarian responsibility and is concerned about the conduct of mankind. Save the Children Denmark doesn't just have a good reputation in Scandinavia – the organisation is also aware of where help is required and possesses the expertise to make a difference. SAS has therefore chosen to support Save the Children Denmark's work for the benefit of vulnerable children." SAS CEO Jørgen Lindegaard.

SAS customers support Save the Children Denmark's work and the sponsorate. EuroBonus customers have donated EuroBonus points to Save the Children Denmark so that we are able to help vulnerable children who otherwise would not be able to travel. When children from a Lithuanian orphanage were invited for summer vacation with Save the Children Denmark volunteers in Aalborg, the adventure already started in the aircraft. Not only had the SAS Eurobonus customers made the trip possible – SAS also made sure that the aircraft was well-stocked with cola and ready to receive 19 expectant and curious children, who had never experienced anything like it.

SAS has been one of Save the Children Denmark's primary sponsor since 1998. A Scandinavian airline, SAS has opted for a Scandinavian sponsorate. This means that Save the Children Denmark, Norway and Sweden together receive SEK 6 million from SAS annually, SEK 2 million of which go to Save the Children Denmark.

Red Barnet sponsor: LEGO CompanyLEGO supports schools in Angola
Save the Children Denmark's primary sponsor, LEGO Company, supported the education of children in Angola in 2003.

Peace fell over Angola in April 2002, but the scarring from 27 years of civil warfare remain everywhere. Several million people continue to live as internally displaced within their own country.

As a Save the Children Denmark primary sponsor, LEGO Company provides DKK 1 million annually to the education of vulnerable children.

This support makes it possible to provide teaching for child soldiers, street children, child labourers and child prostitutes, as well as participation in concrete projects in which they can experience the necessary calm to be able to concentrate. As such, the children are able to enjoy a childhood that includes play and learning – concepts that both LEGO Company and Save the Children Denmark recognise as being fundamentally necessary for the development of children.

More specifically, the support from LEGO Company goes to the construction of schools, education of teachers and development of school materials.

"Children are the most important resource in the world. They will become the world's decision-makers within a generation. We therefore agree wholeheartedly with Save the Children Denmark in terms of a targeted, global effort to create better conditions for children," says Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, President and CEO, LEGO Company.

LEGO Company has supported Save the Children Denmark since 2002.
