Maribeth Bush, M.S., N.C.C.,
Abilities/Technology Specialist

Looking for Maribeth? When she's not taking a well-deserved break strolling along the beautiful Maine coast looking for sea glass, Maribeth is usually found surrounded with children, or painting, writing and drawing, or reaching out to the world via her PC in her studio over looking Portland Harbor.

Leading FableVision’s advisory board with a unique focus on 508 issues is the talented founder, creator and host of the award winning Can Do! website, Maribeth Bush. Maribeth has been collaborating with FableVision founder, Peter Reynolds, for quite a few years. They both share the same vision of seeing the potential in every child. Peter has donated time and artwork to the Can DO website, and in turn, Maribeth has donated energy and her web-prowess to the North Star website. She shares her insight and wisdom on many of FableVision’s educational projects, for which the team is grateful beyond words.

Named 'Shaper of Our Future' by Converge magazine, Maribeth has been recognized for her innovative efforts to encourage, inspire and educate through technology, especially those learners who are physically challenged.

Along with her award-winning website, Maribeth Bush is also a certified school counselor at Lunt Elementary School in Falmouth, Maine. She has also worked in schools throughout Maine as an ability awareness educator. In 1997, she developed and began presenting her ability-focused North Star Can Do! Workshops. Reflecting the physical challenges she herself faces, the workshops are aimed at helping kids develop a can-do attitude and approach to life, despite any obstacle they might face. In addition, Maribeth is an Accessibility Advocate for the American Lung Association of Maine, and is on the Advisory Board of The Read In Foundation.

Never one to rest, Maribeth is working on several new projects, including a children’s book The Glow of Ember which is about a young girl making the most of each day despite many challenges. If you ever need a "pick-me-up" stop by and visit Maribeth’s website and be sure to leave her a "howdy hey" and thank her for all that she does. The world needs more Maribeths! FableVision is mighty glad we have the "original" on our team!
