Nomination of candidates for the National Assembly elections schedule for January 25 starts today at the Regional Electoral offices across the country.
Independent Electoral Commission {IEC}, nomination centres are Banjul, Kanifing, Brikama, Kerewan, Mansakonko, Janjanbureh and Basse. According to a press release from the IEC, the nomination of candidates of the various parties are as follows: Thursday 4th January 2007 is set for the nomination of the APRC candidates, Friday 5th January is set for the nomination of candidates of NADD and its associate parties and Saturday 6th January is set for the nomination of candidates of the UDP and its associate parties. Nonetheless, independent candidates will be expected to submit their nomination papers on each of the set days for their nominations, between the hours of 3pm and 4pm. The IEC urged the general public to maintain the peace and harmony that The Gambia is known for during the nomination exercise. Please login or register to add comments |
