BAALBEK

"Fata Morgana"

(Record Runner, 2000)

Without doubts this it is a different disk, "Fata Morgana" it is not signed up highly inside the  progressive /symphonic rock, but rather it is a coalition work that uses elaboration elements more than interesting.

Baalbek is an instrumental group, with a very defined identity but non static. They are allowed to dive excessively in different waters in a search of attractive. That diversity of horizons makes that this album sounds fresh and elaborated at the same time. The guitar is the main owner of the melodies and deliriums, with a base rhythmic dynamics, correct keyboards and a very opportune sax that he adds a special fineness to the proposal.

There are themes located in the jazz rock ("Fata Morgana", " Cryptico "), other with determination funky ("Clipper ", "El Sigurath", "Baba Yaga"); coalition with reminiscences of national rock of the seventies ("15 Minutes", "A Quien le Toca"), but without a doubt the most outstanding in the disk resides in the topics "Me Fuí" (wave Focus and with sound to the Satriani, with an alone one shared of saxo and irresistible synthesizer) and "El Boxitracio" (more experimental and very more original by the way).

To conclude: a fresh and different disk, like we said at the beginning. Their edition constitutes a very good one moved of the label Récord Runner, in its task of showing for the world what is cooking in the Argentina.
