AGINCOURT

"Fly Away"

Peter Howell and John Ferdinando were a couple of friends that carried out the worthless quantity of five disks of amateur folk swims at the beginning of the 70. Their work summit, "A Game for all who Know", recorded under the name of "Ithaca", it was their fourth LP, and today in day is a classic of the gender low-fi. "Fly Away" was its immediately previous, quite similar disk. What you will find in him will be psychedelic folk with some progressive touches, although this last element is more constrained in this occasion.

The songs spread mainly to the acoustic thing, with some electric instruments dosed exactly to fill and to give variety to the bell of the songs. Likewise, Lee Menelaus's delicious voice already appears that helps enrich the feeling of peace that distills the disk.

On the other hand, it is necessary to say that it is not a round work. In occasions, it is noticed that he/she has not aged well (the theme "Barn Owl Blues" would be an example), and some moments don't end up being as satisfactory as the refinement that would reach in its following LP. Mainly, some of the compound topics slacken for Peter Howell, which didn't write any topic of the disk of "Ithaca" and that, surprisingly, yes had a later musical career of importance like composer for the BBC. Therefore, if is interested the gender, it is advisable to acquire the disk of Ithaca first. And if you liked that, you can buy this "Fly Away" without fear. The final theme, "Through the Eyes of to Lifetime", it is worth for itself raking this CD. It is the most progressive cut in the disk and without a doubt it will delight to any fan of the Moody Blues or, simply to anyone that wants to dream and to fly far from their life for a moment.
