AMON DUUL 2

"Live In London"
 (1972)

Some folks who love Amon Düül 2 swear that their best venue is live. I don't really agree, but there's no denying that they pack a punch on this live album.
"Archangel Thunderbird" and "Eye-Shaking King" rip plaster off the walls, the series of pieces from "Dance Of The Lemmings" get positively sinister treatments (Chris Karrer on violin is particularly stunning) and the singing is forceful if not always tuneful (vocals never were Amon Duul 2's strong suit). It's a good live album (WAY better than the one the reconstituted band did in Tokyo in 1994!) and if you like these psycho killers' early Seventies studio albums, you'll enjoy it. Come to think of it, if you like
the Velvet Underground circa "Sister Ray", you have absolutely no excuse not to like this album. So there!
