CLUSTER

 "Cluster 2"
(1972)

Slowly Cluster changed from their first album until now. Maybe they thought they created enough noise and now it was time for something different. "Plas" in fact still sounds like the first Cluster album. It builds up a mountain of sound from nothing and disappears into nothing again. "Im Süden" features some kind of real melody for the first time. A short guitar phrase repeats and changes slowly with every repetition. This is also the debut of Cluster's drum machine that will play a main role in many of Cluster's later efforts. This album is much calmer and more cheerful than their highly experimental records before 1972, but there is just a hint of what is yet to come.
