COBWEB STRANGE

"A Breath Of October"
(Genterine Records, 2002)

How difficult I turns out to comment a disk fairly that one owner deeply! And the most difficult thing is to explain the reason of that love.

Cobweb Strange is a North American band, in fact of Atlanta that doesn't stand out for the extreme virtuosity of its members. Individually neither Wade Summerlin (Bass, Acoustic Guitar and Vocals), Soumen Talukder (Drums) or the very beautiful Holly Williams (Electric Guitar) and Brandi Byrum (Keyboards and Backing Vocals) they must dazzle us with surprising instrumental exercises, but together they are able to reach the perfect balance and the magic starting from the one which to create songs that are small lasting marvels for always in our memory.
In few words, one is in a point where the personal likes play a paper more than preponderant to the moment to make a final evaluation, a point in which one makes an effort to be impartial. And perhaps reach the conclusion that he is not the most suitable person for this task. But well, I will try to make the effort.
Through to "A Breath Of Octuber", the Cobweb Strange presents us the best in their musical cosmos. Songs with dark atmospheres, in which the subtlety and the power are in exact dose, how "The Drowning Pulse Of The Cold Green Sea" or "Giant" (with an air almost jazzy), instants that contain the fragility of the glass how "The Empty Shell" or "Currents Of Nightshade", passages more profiled toward the hard rock like in "The Empty Shell" and "Tea For The Sleepless", and other where the band reaches absolutely memorable levels: "Pure" and "On With The Show" (my favorite songs of the disk). But maybe the perfect sample of the feelings that expresses "A Breath Of October" finds it in "With Evening Falling", that sigh made music with which these heroes close the disk.
How I said at the beginning, Cobweb Strange is not probably a band that must transcend for the virtuosity of its members, its groupers they are others. Them, perhaps without realizing, they achieve something much more valuable for that that is simply devoted to listen: to move with their music.

An advice, take the work of getting like be "A Birth Of Octuber". Surely happens them like to me, they finished loving this disk that is synonymous of beauty.
