ECHOLYN

"COWBOY POEMS FREE"

(2000)

As all Echolyn knows they separated after the publication of "As the World" in the 95, but fortunately in the 2000 they met again, they threw this album, "Cowboy Poems Free", and June 4 will come out to the street its new work. It seems that some qualify to this album like of smaller work in the discography of this American group, with that that frankly too much of agreement am not. I don't say that it is a work from such a high level to that of their work summit "As the World", but I find an excellent album equally, of one of the definitive groups of last decade.

In this album they continue being noticed the influences of the classic bands of the 70, Gentle Giant, Genesis and Yes, besides a quite American sound. Let us say that it is the perfect balance among the classic and complex progressive rock, and the hook of the songs of American rock, that is to say that it is music of instrumental complexity, but at the same accessible time thanks to the simple structures, accessibility very expert, and with a good promotion this album could have arrived a lot but far in the scene current rocker.

In this album we can appreciate once but, the incredible quality like instrumentalists of the components of the group without being exceeded with inadequate virtuosities, with a spectacular instrumental cohesion that already wanted many bands but well-known of the current progressive panorama, and it is also necessary to highlight the master of these boys in creating vocal games.

As I have already said the album this formed by direct and not very complex songs, but of the quality that one can expect from a great band, songs full with rhythm changes, energy and variations like the excellent "Texas Dust", "Human Lottery", "Gray Flannel Suits", "American Vacation Tune", "Swingin the Ax or 67 Degrees". And other slower ones as the beautiful "1729 Broadway", "High As Pride" or "Too Late for Everything".

The only thing that I am made a little monotonous is the refrain of "Brittany". Another great disk of a band to the one that at the moment any trip cannot be attributed, its four "normal" albums "Echolyn", "Suffocating the Bloom", "As the World" and "Cowboy Poems Free" are as excellent minimum.

If they continue evolving in this line, for my perfect one. I wait anxious their new disk that this about to appear.
