Ergo Sum

" Mixolidio "

Independent - 2000 - 52:10

Stupendous second work of the remarkable band chilean Ergo Sum. Progressive instrumental

of melodic lines with influences Jethtro Tull and powerful touches.

With the reason of accompanying at 2112 to their Chilean presentations of November of the 2000, next to Tryo and Ergo Sum, we had the privilege of discovering to this stupendous grouping who would open the shows of Santiago from Chile and would close those of Valparaiso, presenting the incredible material exactly of this, their second and recent titled disk "Mixolidio".

That it burnishes surprise, be enough to say that we are amazed by the brilliant show that they gave these sensational musicians, and that then when hearing the CD we were happy again, to be a stupendous instrumental, imaginative progressive rock whose compositions are carried out in their great majority by Alexandros Tefarikis, their guitarist, and they are based fundamentally on beautiful melodic lines with influences of Jethtro Tull, King Crimson and some harder touches.

Be enough to say that Alexandros is Joe Satriani's virtuous guitarist mixture with David Gilmour, of a great good pleasure and sensibility to play.

Ergo Sum also possesses the originality of its formation, of guitar, bass (Sebastián Torrejón), drums (Gonzalo Muga), flute (Juan Ríos) and Vibraphone (Marimba) (Sergio Menares), all stupendous musicians, with the particularity that the harmonic fabrics are made by the marimba, That which gives a specific touch and distinguishing characteristic to the sound result.

Their music traffics the hardest rails in "Nuevos Tiempos", "Laberinto" or "Power II", to mention some, with the same solvency that in the climatic and subtle parts as "Amistad", or "Clasicoide", everything plagued of good pleasure.

Another important demarcation, is that the disk is separated in two parts, the first one in study (first five topics) and the second live (the last ones seven), That which gives an unequivocal perspective of this great band in both fronts, being a true pleasure to get lost in the labyrinths and in the creative of its music.

In synthesis, a stupendous experience that affords enjoyment and desires of waiting Ergo Sum Chilean friends' new works.

Recommended.
