These seven scores come from consumer ratings of their vehicles after the first few months of ownership.
Overall Quality: This score is the total of the Mechanical, Feature & Accessory, and Body & Interior problems that make up the Power Circles.
Mechanical Quality: This score is based on problems reported with the engine, transmission, steering, suspension, and braking systems.
Body & Interior Quality: This score is based on reported problems like exterior paint problems, wind noise, water leaks, poor interior fit/finish, and squeaks/rattles.
Feature and Accessory Quality: This score is based on reported problems with interior features like the seats, windshield wipers, and door locks. It also includes problems with features like the heater, air conditioner, stereo system, sunroof and trip computer.
Performance: This score is based on how consumers rated the performance of their vehicle's powertrain and suspension systems, including ratings on things like acceleration, handling stability, braking performance, and shift quality. For some vehicles, 4 wheel/all-wheel drive performance is also included.
Creature Comforts: This score is based on how consumers rate a wide range of features like the stereo system, the seats, interior storage bins, gauges/instruments, and heater/air conditioner. It also includes ratings on the quality of interior materials, seat comfort, and the cupholders.
Style: This score is based on how consumers rated the interior and exterior styling of their vehicle. The styling score also includes ratings on things like uniqueness of styling, exterior and interior color choices and convenience of trunk access.
Midterm Ratings (1-2 years)
These scores come from owners of cars from one-to-three years old who have been asked about experiences with their vehicle.
Mechanical Reliability: This score is based on problems reported with the engine, transmission, steering, suspension, and braking systems on a vehicle when it is one to three years old.
Body & Interior Reliability: This score is based on the frequency of problems with things like exterior paint, wind noise, water leaks, poor interior fit/finish, and squeaks/rattles on a vehicle when it is one to three years old.
Feature and Accessory Reliability: This score is based on score is based on reported problems with interior features like the seats, windshield wipers, and door locks on a vehicle when it is one to three years old. Long Term Ratings (4-5 years)
