The Season for Venture Association AGMs

Venture-related associations' annual general meetings were held consecutively in February. First off, the Korea Venture Business Women's Association (KOVWA) held its AGM on Feb. 27 at the Imperial Palace Hotel, while the 7th Creative Woman Forum. KIBWA (Korea IT Business Women's Association) also launched a ceremony to congratulate the launching of its 3rd term executing executives on Feb. 20 at the COEX Intercontinental, Seoul. In the case of KOVA (Korea Venture Business Association), its general meeting was held on Feb. 28 at the Renaissance Seoul hotel, along with an invitation lecture by CEO & Founder Kim Young-se, INNODESIGN regarding 'Innovation'.

Sri Lanka Thanks Korea for Helping Tsunami Victims

On the occasion of the country's 58th Anniversary of Independence Day, Sri Lankan Amb. G. Wijayasiri revealed the nation's multi-religious society to the invited guests and his friends with priority given to Buddhism in a reception to commemorate its National Day, held on Feb. 4, 2006 in his Seonbuk-dong residence, Seoul Simultaneously he bade farewell to his friends in Korea before his departure. During his speech, he expressed his special thanks to the government of Korea for donating generous support to the victims of his country's Tsunami. At the Sri Lanka Embassy function, a small group of invited guests related to the trade and travel with the country were present, including The Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) chairman Kwon Soon-han.

Iran's diplomatic function to observe the Islamic Revolution

To commemorate the 27th Anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, the Embassy of Iran held a diplomatic function on Feb. 13 at the Lotte Hotel, Seoul while El Salvador's Amb. & Dean of the Seoul Diplomatic Corps Alfredo Ungo, Vice Minister of Environment Lee Kyoo-yong and others were present. Iran's Islamic Revolution Day is to commemorate the day marking Islamic leader Ayatollah Khomeini's establishment of an interim revolutionary government 10 days after returning from exile in France. Iranian Amb. Jahanbakhsh Mozaffari said that Iran's nuclear power program is intended as an alternative energy source.

A rare Opportunity to Appreciate Kazakh Traditional Art

To provide Korean friends with a rare opportunity to see Kazakh traditional art, the Embassy of Kazakhstan and Lotte Art Gallery held a Fantasy exhibition of Tapestry by Kazakh artist Leila Akhmet- Osman. With this exhibition as an impetus, the Embassy looks more other opportunities to share Kazakh culture with the Korean public, a spokesman at the Embassy said.

Kookmin's Graduate School of Politics and Leadership Spreads its Wings

On the occasion of its 10th Anniversary, the Graduate School of Politics and Leadership, Kookmin University observed it on Feb. 24 at the Seoul Plaza. According to president Kim Moon-hwan, Kookmin University, this Graduate School not only aims to contribute to the development of democratic society in an international community, but also attempts to emphasize the education of political leaders who have integrity and expertise in the 21st century. The Graduate School of Politics and Leadership was established with the purpose of helping professionals understand domestic and foreign political affairs better.

Celebrating India's Republic Day

Ahead of the official visit to Korea country's of President Abdul Kalam last month, the Embassy of India observed the nation's Republic Day at the Ambassador's Itaewon residence, Seoul while India-related business representatives were present in large numbers, including Tata Daewoo, Indian Overseas Bank, Air India, Chakraa Indian restaurant and others, plus various members of the Seoul Diplomatic Corps. Indian Amb. N. Parhasaathi stressed the importance of the president's official visit to Korea, referring to the fact that India has a sizeable market share of IT and IT enabled services globally.
