About IOI
The International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) is one of
the most recognized computer science competitions in the world. The Competition
Tasks are of an algorithm nature, however the contestants have to show basics
skills as problem analysis, design of the algorithm needed, data structures,
as well as programming and testing of their solutions. The winners of the IOI
belong, no doubt, to the best young computer scientist in the world.
The IOI is one of the eight International Science Olympiads.
The other seven are: Mathematics IMO (since 1959), Physics IPhO (since 1967),
Chemistry IChO (since 1968), Biology IBO (Since 1990), Astronomy IAO (since
1996), Geography IGEO (since 1996), and The International Linguistic Olympiad
ILO (since 2003), All them, are for young students, High School Students, less
than 20 years old.
To the IOI competition, each country participates with an
Official Delegation, consistent of four contestants (Students), one Leader (Professor)
and one Deputy Leader (Professor).
The contestants have to be Students with less than 20 years old at the 1st
of July 2006, and not to be in College or University.

The first IOI was organized in Pravetz, Bulgaria, in 1989,
with the assistance of UNESCO. The Olympiads in the 21'st century have taken
place in Tampere, Finland (2001), Yong–In, South Korea (2002), Kenosha, Wisconsin,
USA (2003), Athens, Greece (2004), Nowy Sacz, Poland(2005).
