IOI 2006

It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the 18th. International Olympiad in Informatics, the IOI 2006, which will be held in the United States of México (Known as “México” only) as your country Host, Yucatán as your State Host and it’s Capital city, Mérida as your City Host.

The IOI 2006, will be in the place where once the Maya’s were settled, right in the middle of the Yucatán Peninsula, a beautiful piece of Mexican land, in the middle between the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of México.

The Mayas are recognized as the creators of the Zero, the informatics as you may know, is based in ones and zeroes, so half of the foundations of informatics are due to this Mayan creation. Don’t you think it will be nice to come to the IOI, in a place where this kind of inspirational ideas took form and compete with many other young contestants from all over the world?
