Stacey was a talented, extrovert driver from an Essex farming family who showed great speed in a works Lotus despite having an artificial lower right leg and needing a motorcycle-type throttle control. He was killed in the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa when he hit a bird on the Masta straight. |
