THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH

This chapter is dedicated to the city of my birth; Plymouth, England.
Home of the Pilgrim fathers who set sail to the promised land: from the mayflower steps on Plymouths' Barbican in 1626.

The small colony they set up on north america, along with the faith and values they took with them on that epic journey, has given the world the most powerful country in its' entire history.
The monumental achievements of the pilgrim fathers, have made my city of Plymouth renowned in its own right as a city of discovery.

Sir Francis Drake: Englands saviour from the Spanish armada,
lived on the outskirts of Plymouth and sailed on most of his voyages of discovery from Plymouth
Darwin also set off from Plymouth on his voyage of scientific discovery, aboard the beagle.
After which was published his origin of the species.

The renowned Captain Cook who discovered and mapped the new continent of Australia, also sailed on his three voyages of discovery from Plymouth.
He also discovered and named, the sandwich islands now known as the hawain islands or
51ST. state of the usa.

Today, Plymouth maintains its martime heritage, it is the home base of Britains trident submarine fleet and is also the premier port for the british surface fleet.
