History

1884 Establishment of the Neuguinea-Kompanie under Adolph von Hansemann. Bismarck has the German flag hoisted on Neupommern, Neulauenburg and Neuguinea.
Marshal islands get occupied.
1885May 17th The Neuguinea-Kompanie is given a charter.
 August 25th A German warship hoists the German Flag on Yap, the main island of the Carolines.
1885 Germany and Britain partition the Solomon islands; Buka,
Bougainville, Choiseul and Isabel are allocated to Germany
1887 German postal agency opened in Neuguinea
1888 Nauru proclaimed a German possession
1895 The scientists Lauterbach, Tappenbeck and Kersting undertake an expedition into the interior. They discover the Ramu River
1899 For a price of 16 million Reichsmark, Germany purchases
Spain's claim over the Marianas, Carolines and Palau Islands
S.M.S. Elisabeth and S.M. Gunboat Hyaene in Friedrich-Wilhemlshafen Bay on New Guinea.
November 4th 1884 Captain Schaering takes possession of the Bismarck Archipelago and hoists the German flag.

1900In 1900 Samoa is partitioned among Germany and the United
States. Germany, which received by far the larger part of Samoa, compensates
Britain by ceding the Solomon islands of Choiseul and Isabel.
1906 Simonshafen new seat of administration, renamed in Rabaul
1907opening of a government school for whites and coloureds (of
mixed descent) in Rabaul
1908 the cocos plantations cover a total area of 3,600 ha.
European residence

1914the Japanese navy occupies the Carolines, Palau, Marianas and
Marshall Islands
Rabaul is occupied by the Australians
1919In the Treaty of Versailles, Germany cedes it's claims without compensation
1939  all Germans are interned
