Don Drummond

b. 1943 Kingston, d. 1969 Kingston

Don Drummond was notably the greatest trombone players Jamaica had ever seen. He was unique, as he was not only playing but at the same time one of the best composers of his time. He tutored Rico Rodriguez at Alpha School and led him his way into the music business. When Rico went to England Don participated in developing the style which led to The Skatalites.

The great man died much too early.
