Born in Belgrade on 24 July, 1968 where he completed his primary and grammar school (VI Belgrade Grammar School). He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade, department of hydro energetic.

He specialized successively in security courses in the USA and gained a diploma of law enforcement, a diploma for security issues and oversight, as well as the prestigious diploma of the US-German Marshall Centre for Security Studies in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

In the period from April to May 2000, he served in the European parliament in Strasbourg and Brussels.

In November 2000, he was appointed special advisor at the Federal Ministry of Interior and in 2001 he became Assistant Federal Minister of Interior.

In parliamentary elections in 2000, 2003 and 2007 he was elected as an MP.

From 2002 to 2003 he was a president of the Serbian parliament’s committee for defence and security and from 2004 to 2007 the deputy president of the Serbian parliament’s committee for defence and security.

In local elections in 2000 and 2004 he was voted deputy in the Belgrade City Assembly.

Mr. Sutanovac was appointed Minister of Defence in the Government of the Republic of Serbia on 15 May, 2007.

He was in the military service from 1987 to1988 in Samobor – signal unit.

Speaks English. Married, a father of two sons Predrag and Strahinja.
