Q u o t e:
Anyone for Arby's?

No. Last time I had Arby's, I got food poisoning. Worst 4 days of my life, 2 of which I spent hurling my guts up ever 30 minutes to an hour.

Curly fries and a cherry turnover.

And, I beg to differ. I'm quite fond of my cozy duplex, one which happens to sit about two blocks from a sandy beach. The kitchen window has a fantastic view of the shoreline.

I'll go for the fries though. I do enjoy those.

Hmmph. I'm in a bad mood. Vacation is soooo close. Just need to hang in until Wednesday.

Galveston is just a short drive, c'mon now.

I live in the River Oaks area very close to the Country Club.. Awesome view there too, lake is in plain view.

And if it's in Irvine, that's only, what $490,000? ;) I actually interviewed with Blizzard last year for a programming position and my wife and I were shocked at the cost of living over there as compared to NC and/or Atlanta. -- That's one of the reasons we wound up not wanting to move to California.

I am jealous of your beach proximity, however. :)

<sigh>

I live in Florida, and used to have a beautiful view of the beach from our deck (half a block from the ocean). Then we decided to be "mature" and "not pay outrageous amounts for insurance" and moved a bit further inland. The house has a gorgeous yard full of old oak trees, but it's just not the same.

And hello to the Houston-area people! I lived in College Station for a few years - many, many moons ago - and love the area.

See, morbid and creepifying, I got no problem with, long as she does it quiet-like.

I'm a renter, actually. Given current markets, though, I believe the duplex would sell for quite a bit more'n that. :)

Aye. Cost of living is a wee bit high. I've spent all my self-supporting life here, however, so it's pretty standard.

Ouch. My biggest issue is that we have a large dog and two parrots. So generally, we need to rent a house. That would've been prohibitively expensive out in Irvine. I wish there were programming jobs in the Florida keys. I could go for living on the beach. :)

I rented until I could find a financial institution who was willing to loan me enough money to build. It was shocking that even though I already owned the land I was gonna build on, and was willing to use it as collateral, a lot of places wouldn't even give me the time of day cause I was young... Eventually I was able to find one that wasn't too bad, but it was a long drawn out process...

Owing a home is nice... there's always something that needs to be done that I try to put off until tomorrow...

Grass needs to be cut... again...
A life… cool.. where can I download one of those?

Owning a house is overrated in my opinion. We own our house right now and it has become a major problem. As soon as you sign the papers, you have tied yourself to that area for a while. We've wanted to move away from this area for about 3 years, but the house has other plans for us. (septic system completely failed last year)

I think being young ( I am only 24) renting is the way to go until you decide to truly settle down with children.

We will likely rent next time.
Nothing better than coffee with half & half, mixed with a small amount of Tazo Chai. All organic.
Mmmm yummy!

I rent out my older homes, that helps you get away from the area quickly.. Find a contractor that you're comfortable with to fix any problems that come up and move on to the next spot.

Not bad at all for subsidizing my income.
