Introduction

The citation guidelines that follow are just that: guidelines. The generic bibliography form is detailed for the most common sources, followed by a few examples. This is enough information to get you started, but you are likely to find many sources that do not quite fit with what is given (for example, two authors or no author). In those cases, you might need to ask the library staff or your teacher for help or refer to a citation handbook like the ones in the references section at the bottom of this page. The guidelines given on all examples are consistent with the MLA form for bibliographic citations. In officially typing these for a paper, you should indent every line of each entry after the first line.
