Four Australians will feature in the third round of the French Open juniors after all winning through in straight sets yesterday. Sixth seed Brydan Klein led the charge barely raising a sweat in his 6-2 6-1 drubbing of Moldova’s Radu Albot. The junior Australian Open champion dominated from the outset, breaking his opponent twice in the opener and three more times in the second set to post the victory in 1hr 11mins. Klein was joined in the third round by countrymen Andrew Thomas and Greg Jones. The unseeded Thomas was impressive in his upset win over Chilean 14th seed Ricardo Urzua-Rivera. He took advantage of every break point chance converting on five from five opportunities during the match for a 6-3 6-4 triumph. Thomas now faces Italian the in-form Italian world No.1 Matteo Trevisan. Fifth seeded Jones was forced to work hard against American Mateusz Kecki for his place in the tournament’s last 16. The Aussie’s impressive first serve percentage helped him through the first set before he was forced to fend off the American in a long second set tiebreak before recording a 6-4 7-6(9) win. Australian Institute of Sport player Jessica Moore continues to fly the Aussie flag in the girl’s draw posting a 6-1 6-4 win over Thailand’s Noppawan Lertcheewakarn in the second round. Moore required exactly one hour to advance and for her efforts has earned a third round showdown with top seed and reigning US and Australian Open champion Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. Australians Bernard Tomic and John-Patrick Smith were second round casualties. Tomic went down to 15th seeded Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis 6-2 6-3, while Smith surrendered to Frenchman Jerome Inzerillo 6-4 7-6(3).
