Russian Winter FestivalSunday 13 January 2008, 12-7pmThe Russian Winter Festival is a free event in Trafalgar Square offering a wonderful taste of Russia to children and adults alike with a varied programme of traditional and contemporary music and entertainment. It marks Russia’s ‘Old New Year’ - New Year according to the Tsarist calendar which was used prior to 1917, and which is still celebrated in Russia in mid-January. This year's Festival, on Sunday 13 January 2008, will see the square transformed for the day, with market stalls selling crafts and food, children's games, theatrical performances and puppets for the youngsters - something to delight everyone. Music and entertainment from the main stage begins with traditional song and dance for the whole family, and from around 4pm showcases Russian rock and pop . Artists appearing include:

The screenings are supported by the Mayor of London and form part of a celebration of Russian culture in London. They are free, but tickets must be booked in advance.
