Bloodite Interview: Brooklyn
Real name : William Egan Simonson
01 What's your gaming nickname and is there any particular reason why you chose it? A year ago, I was rather green to online forums and as I posted a reply on the Blood Forum, was prompted for a name. In my naivete, I entered "Brooklyn" - not as a nickname but as a point of origin. I decided to let it stand because of the stigma a nickname like that would evoke. I'm street-wise, to be sure; but far from a lumbering ignoramus fueled by savage pride for his turf. (lol ;) - Infern0)02 Do you use a custom character config and, if so, how is it setup? Strength :03 What weapons do you include in your arsenal? 01 : Beretta04 Do you prefer bloodbath, standard teamplay or CTF? Single Play, but that's going to change. All these questions pertaining to multiplay have caused me to rethink my issues on the matter. I really haven't given online gaming a chance. I pledge here and now to find the good in it. (famous last words...also explains why so many of my questions are unanswered :) - Infern0)05 What maps are you best on? ***06 Which weapon do you think induces the most lag? ***07 What is the funniest kill you've performed or received? In Blood 1 maps, I've laughed out loud on numerous occaisions and it always involves the use of the dynamite bundles. The way the enemy models are swept aside, up and out of view with such force is comical for reasons I don't even care to meditate about. The funniest times are when the gibs rain down after you've moved on to the next sector of a map. Recently, I was startled when a zombie head landed on a gate post a good while after the fact. Must have been a high ceiling map.08 What's your standard way of carrying out a humiliation death? ***09 What games do you play online apart from Blood 2? ***10 What is your all-time favourite weapon from any game? Easy one. The alt-fire napalm launcher in Blood 1. A marvel to behold. One almost forgets it's not real. It's a shame that it wasn't transposed to B2 well. Just a beautiful sight, especially with unlimited ammo.11 What is your all-time favourite map from any game? I can tell you the game is Blood 1, but it's impossible to name my favorite- I also have about a hundred single play maps downloaded. With those, I can only narrow it to maps that are so difficult that you can barely survive with all the cheats sans God Mode on.12 What do you think the future holds for Blood 2? I read recently that GT Interactive suffered losses and had to sack 650 workers. Perhaps the price of the Blood franchise will arrive at a figure whereby MonoLith might wish to acquire it. Then B2 would be worth the Official fix, additional addons, even a Blood 3. I think such decisions would hinge on what would have to be a sustained effort on our parts and a miraculous surge of new players. If we contribute our fixes and mods in the meantime, it can only decrease the odds.13 What tips do you have to share with your fellow bloodbathers? ***14 How can people contact you so they may try and damage your bloodbathing prowess? I visit the Blood and PlanetBlood forums religiously. I'm usually online briefly in the morning, several hours in the afternoon, and most definitely from 8pm to Midnight New York Time (EST). Sometimes more. My email is: solamente@mindspring.com15 What do you think about PlanetBlood and is there anything else you would like to see on it? (this is also the place where you can plug your sites) If you put a gun to my head to find fault with The Crypt, I could only say I find the centered scrolling panel a little claustrophobic. I would like to see an up-front emphasis on related resources and tutorials. This is not the time for mod and mapmaker alike to guard their secrets! (Criticism noted. I'll definitely try and get more mod making material together...and to all map makers : include the .ed files in your zips! - Infern0)16 What was the inspiration for your line of mods? When I see a modern steel and concrete building adorned, literally pasted with thin slabs of granite, it dosen't arouse the kind of awe as an old building comprised of granite blocks. I admire works evident of great devotion and scale; I believe they retain a physical link to the souls who created them. There also exists an eerie, grim, inexplicable dread in such traditional grandeur and ornamentation. Since the premise of Blood 2 touted never materialized in the release, I felt I had to steer some of the levels towards the original storyline.17 Which of your mods has been the most enjoyable to create? To date, that would be BROOKLYN.REZ. I was quite pleased along the way to discover that there are many more things that can be modified that I didn't even use that do not require a lick of programming skill. And seeing some of the new programmed mods further inspired me to begin the process of learning C++.18 Can you see yourself creating more after the Blood Noir series is complete? I will treat further levels similiarly, but my true short term goal is to learn the discipline of making B1 and B2 levels. I'm the kind of person who fervently desires to know what I don't know, provided of course it interests me! Closing Comment : Many thanks for that superb interview - more like these future B.o.t.Ws - Infern0
