“Professional development in our school district is very important,” Superintendent Dr. Barry Groves said. “Our number one goal is to do good things for kids.” The professional development program at Mountain View High School, which was expanded this year, aims to do just that. For many years, we believed that the world was being affected by global warming, or a gradual increase in the average temperature of the earth. Now, though, new research is pointing us in the opposite direction. This kind of excitement usually happens at MVHS versus LAHS games. Our school has a long history of rivalry with LAHS, the local high school; it is a driving force of our school spirit. It is evident with the “pluck the eagles” posters we see around campus when a MV versus LA game is coming up and “Beat LA” t-shirts made by students we see during the big game day. The rivalry has been in place for many years, “Yes, we had [MV rivalry with LA] when I was in school, big time, especially in football,” said Band Director Jason Kneebone, who graduated from Los Altos High school in 1999.
