A little girl runs down the sidewalk. The red, white and blue ribbons that decorate her hair stream out behind her. Her parents hurry behind her, their pins proclaim in too brightly, “Proud to be an American.” The back of their Ford Focus is plastered with ribbons, “Support our Troops.” It is the Fourth of July and patriotism oozes from every corner of America.
