French gaming website Jeux France has revealed that, in the latest issue of Japanese magazine Gemaga, Square Enix veteran Tetsuya Nomura took part in an interview in which he reveals a few details about the newest Final Fantasy game, as well as his plans aftewards.

Newly dubbed Final Fantasy Versus XIII, the game will feature a unique combat system that is being headed by Toshiro Tsuchida, who has worked on such games as Final Fantasy X and the Front Mission series. According to the interview, the new system plans to merge elements from Kingdom Hearts with those from Dirge of Cerberus. Particularly intriguing is the fact that a character's point-of-view will change in accordance to the weapon they have equipped. For instance, a gun would initiate a first-person viewpoint, whereas using a sword will result in a third-person view.

As for the characters in the game, Nomura only revealed the name of the above character, who first debuted at Japan's Jump Festa 2007. Nomura did not specify whether this character would be playing the part of a hero or a villain, but he did reveal that he is referred to as "Mr. 33 cm", which he assures is only in reference to his shoe size.

Nomura made a final point by stating that he can regrettably only work on one game at a time, so he will be quitting the Final Fantasy series soon after the completion of Final Fantasy Versus XIII to concentrate exclusively on the Kingdom Hearts series. Best wishes to him and his endeavors.
