Each
individual student in the class decided on his/her own hypothesis.
Two students believed Plant C would grow the best Two students believed Plant B would grow the best. Fourteen students believed
plant A would grow the best. |

Many farmers in the world use fertilizers to help their plants grow at a faster rate, become larger in size, or appear to have a better condition. The class wanted to find out if we administered fertilizer to plants would it speed up their growth, or would they grow better? Most of the students thought that the control plant A would grow the best. Two thought Plant B, with one dose would grow the best, and two thought plant C with three doses would grow the best. |

1. Each day we gave all the plants the same amount of sunlight, and water. 2. One student per day was responsible for administering the correct dosage of liquid fertilizer to the appropriate plant. 3. Plant A did not receive any fertilizer Plant B received one regular dose of fertilizer Plant C received three times the amount of plant B. 4. Each day one student recorded the results of the plants' condition on a scale of one through five. Five being the highest. |
|
The first two weeks all the plants were on a scale of five. We did not see any changes in the condition of any of the plants. However by the end of the third week, we noticed that the plant that was receiving three times the regular dosage of fertilizer (Plant C) was starting to wilt a bit, bring the plant score down to a four. This is the fertilizer that we feed the plants B
& C Plant B received
one dose and Plant C received three doses.
THE
WINNER IS PLANT A!!!! Plant A received no fertilizer.

At he end of seven weeks Plant A, with no fertilizer grew very well ending in a score of four. Plant B did fairly well ending with a three score. Plant C, however dropped gradually and almost died by week seven. It ended with a one score. The conclusion of this experiment was that our plant (A) without fertilizer grew the best. Plant C which received. three doses of fertilizer almost died. Therefore, it is best to give small house plants small amounts of fertilizer, or none. |
