During thee last few y-eras we have fought long, and costly, battles to retrieve ownership ov all our various recordings and master tapes. Coumtimes licencing deals ran out amicably and our music returned to us happily. At other times we have been forced to hire attorneys to fight for us to put an end to sub-standard bootlegs, pirates, cowboys ov every possible shade ov dishonest and shabby, greedy and immoral. Often these despicable types are invisible to you thee fans. You have no way ov knowing which CD in your local shop is legitimate and which is a phoney where not a penny goes towards our activities and our desire to continue to believe thee world, culture and humanE behaviour can be transitioned into what is possible and divine in our species, instead ov that which is base in thee origins ov thee species. For example, (whilst it is obvious to us at a glance) would you ever have guessed that we had NOTHING whatever to do with "ORIGIN OF THE SPECIES VOL. THREE". We did not give our permission for its release, or choose thee tracks. Some tracks are not by PTV at all, but about half thee tracks were by other bands who were never consulted before their music was paraded as PTV ( eg.Glen Meadmore). One look at thee artwork shows it is not up to our standards or properly part ov thee jigsaw puzzles ov our ACID design, and where was thee 30 page booklet written by Genesis? Naturally we are always looking for amicable ways to discourage these last few anomalies so that you, our public where music is concerned, can be sure that each release you see is OFFICIAL, endorsed directly by Genesis and thee other people concerned like THEE MAJESTY, COTTON FEROX and so on. We want every CD to be as PERFECT and DEFINITIVE as possible. Sometimes we have only a vinyl copy from thee archives to begin with, but our resident maestro BRYIN DALL can take snap, crackle and pop and turn it into thee musick ov thee spheres! Bless him mightily.

SO..as thee stream ov knock-offs seems endless, their source ever changing like a river in flood cutting through fertile land...we have made an agreement with VOICEPRINT RECORDS in England to slowly but surely release all our back catalogue in it's best possible form so that we never have to concern ourselves with quality of sound or second-rate design again. Thee live series is often from cassette tapes, so it is patchy at times! However we try to choose thee significant, or unique gigs that a collector would want anyway, rather than just thee tightest performance or best sound on tape. In a very real way we release thee recordings that WE would want to have and that WE wish to have preserved, in however fragile an Astorical way. To make things simpler we have split thee releases into various series. Then if you are more into having a completist collection ov PTV live you can focus on THEE LIVE SERIES. At least 30 are planned, butter who knows? Only 1000 numbered copies ov each gig are made. Thee newest release is "WORDSHIP" by THEE MAJESTY and COTTON FEROX, recorded in Stockholm by Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, Carl Abrahamsson and Thomas Tibbert. All thee music and poems are new decompositions. Lady Jaye adores this so much she quite literally plays it every night as a ritual preparation for rest and sleep. Genesis feels that it is thee most precise prose poem S/he has received ever up until this T.I.M.E.

To encapsulate thee various series we have made a brief description ov each to assist you:

PSYCHIC TV – THEE DIRECTOR’S CUT SERIES

Each release in this series will include never before released extra tracks, alternate mixes and definitive edits from the specific project celebrated. There will be a lavish 20-30 page booklet packed with detailed anecdotes and rare, unpublished photos and images directly culled from the PTV archives. All music will be digitally rescued, de-clicked and re-mastered under the supervision of Genesis Breyer P-Orridge. The distinctive slip case design by Edward ODowd will be a different metallic color for each release with a Psychic Cross window cut in the center.

Thee first release in May 2004 will be "GODSTAR - Soundtrack to a Film Based Upon Thee L-if-E And Times Ov Brian Jones". This is a double CD with thee hyperdelic era PTV songs, instrumentals, previously unreleased sequences and rarities finally arranged as Genesis always intended in thee order they would be to illuminate each scene in thee film. There is a large booklet with never before seen photographs and facts about thee project, Brian Jones, why Genesis became obsessed with Brian and then how Brian came to represent one ov thee pantheon ov growing Icons ov PANDROGENY. This is an amazing release, If you are a fan ov BRIAN JONES, ov thee SIXTIES, ov thee STONES or anything to do with thee journey ov L-if-E revealed by Brian's tragedy and triumph. For thee first time too you can hear, first hand, Brion Gysin describe to Genesis Brian Jones' first visit to Jajouka and thee events that followed with Anita, Keith and thee others. THEE GENESIS P-ORRIDGE SPOKEN WORD SERIES:

This series aims to be the CD equivalent of Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s “Pocket Poets”books from the 60’s that made Beatnik poetry so accessible and influential. The first 4 CD’s center on THEE MAJESTY both itself, and in collaboration with Swedish experimentalists COTTON FEROX and WHITE STAINS. Three are definitive re-releases with the entire poetic text in each accompanying booklet as well as previously unpublished rare, related photos. The most recent release “WORDSHIP” is entirely new, original psychedelic ambient dub music with an amazing prose poem series that has been compared to T.S. Elliot’s “Wasteland” in it’s complex genius. Future releases will feature Beat poet Brion Gysin set to music by invited artists. Gradually more writers and poets will be added into this series combining spoken word and music uniquely curated by Genesis Breyer P-Orridge.


PSYCHIC TV – THEE LIVE SERIES

In the 1980’s Psychic TV’s own Temple Records label began to release a series of 23 live vinyl albums to combat the bootleggers and to give a service to their most loyal fans of the best possible sound quality combined with the most varied, anomalous and/or unconventional live performances. By collecting this entire CD series (which is not stopping at 23!) fans get all songs improvised on stage only once, spontaneous cover versions and instrumental jams will be preserved whilst giving maximum musical completeness to collectors. Each CD is a numbered Limited Edition of only 1000 copies. Edward ODowd has redesigned the distinctive original Red,Black and White sleeves as cardboard gatefolds. Genesis Breyer P-Orridge has supplied intimate journal notes and anecdotes from the period to add authenticity and depth to this unique journey alongside an everchanging band.

Genesis looking as exhausted and punished by disappointment as he was...!

E apologise. Just when we were up and running smoothly, giving you all regular (ish) updates on our world and activities we got caught off guard by circumstances. Yes, thee L-if-E ov our crew here at thee "Institute" is just as vulnerable to chance disaster as any other way ov being can be.

We've been focussing more and more intently on making thee RETG Festival happen at Camber Sands on thee 14,15,16 May 2004. Thee logistics involved were enormous. As was thee dedication ov all four members of Throbbing Gristle. (n.b. to check out what was SUPPOSED to happen go to MUSIC, then Throbbing Gristle on this site and, if you wish, follow thee links to thee rest ov TG). Air tickets were booked, technical equipment was being fine tuned and everyone was very excited. Chris, Cosey, Sleazy and myself ( Genesis) were in daily email contact as we still are. Part ov thee preparation was for me to fly to London in March and spend two weeks in thee Mute recording Studios known as "The Instrument" jamming together and improvising to see how thee old chemistry was working and as a bonus, should it occur, to de-compose new TG material and songs. As was always our method we recorded everything. Thee only new aspect being that we recorded on a digital 24 track. E am not a techno so for more info we'll have to ask Chris and Sleazy and Cosey. Anyway, thee great thing was that we found that from thee first day we all slipped into playing TOGETHER as if only a few weeks had passed since 1981. Much to everyone's pleasure we also ended up expanding upon sketches brought in by TG and to date have recorded FOUR brand new TG songs, as well as created coum amazing new symphonic musics. Very few people have been allowed to hear this new TG music so far. but those who have are all happily surprised how TG it sounds, yet totally modern, not just TG trying to copy TG, but as you hear it, thee music that immediately one sees was inevitable for us to make next. More sophisticated, yet not self-conscious. Built on feelings, emotions, LISTENING intently to each other, never trying to overwhelm anothers music, only looking for ways to enhance and illuminate their inspirations. A fabulous experience for us all. People at Mute remarked upon how much we were smiling, how happy we all were together, how hard we worked because we were enjoying ourselves.

There was only one negative undercurrent during our time in london together. Various people E can only call ( being gentle and kind) "IDIOTS" kept circulating rumours that we were NOT really together. Not friends, not going to play RETG, not recording music, not even ever in one room together despite our having done a lot of promotional interviews and photo shoots together. Then there were tales that it was NOT going to be once only, but that TG would tour so wait until TG come to your town and save money. WELL WE WERE NOT. NEVER, EVER GOING TO DO ANY OTHER GIGS. You would imagine that anyone could work out that these malicious games were untrue. As to WHY people play them...E have no idea. To spend time ruining other peoples' pleasure, destroying attempts at creativity and unity in a world that needs as much as it can get is beyong my understanding. Nevertheless, these myths that it was all some kind ov pointless ( to us) and expensive 2 y-era joke by TG made quite a few TG fans hesitate to buy their tickets. We feel pretty confident that they would have bought them at the last minute. But we will not find out. RETG thee Festival has had to be postponed. E cannot explain thee full reasons better than thee OFFICIAL STATEMEANT that follows which has been approved by ALL those involved, TG, ATP, Mute and everyone who dedicated a y-era or more to trying to make something fantastic happen for us all to share. Thee people who will suffer thee most are thee true fans and friends, our tribe, our own community who have taken annual vacation off work to be there; bought non-refundable air tickets; moved their whole lives around to experience something unique together. Even thee members ov Thee Majesty have day jobs, ( no,we don't make a living off music even now all these y-eras later) and have given up their annual vacations and wages to have thee honour ov playing for you all at something so special. It is very sad, and E know, all ov us involved in trying to make this happen feel awful at thee disappointment, emotional anti-climax and financial burden postponing has generated. Believe me, if we could have found a way to make it happen, we would, and thee good news is NEXT Y-ERA WE WILL coum what may.

Thee other good news is that we will release a special edition ov four new TG songs on a CD called "T.G. - NOW" that will be available at thee special event that we intend to perform at on Sunday 16th May 04 as a consolation to those who did not hesitate or distrust the RETG event but showed faith in us by already buying tickets. This will be a special evening proposed by TG for all who can still coum.

BREAKING NEWS RE:TG EVENT MOVED TO LATER DATE!

On behalf of Throbbing Gristle We are very sorry to have to announce that it will NOT be possible to present the RE~TG event as planned on May 14th-16th 2004.

Despite good sales for the event (in excess of 1600 tickets), unexpected cost rises and scheduling complications would have required the festival virtually to sell out before enough funds were generated to stage the RE~TG festival in the manner originally intended by T.G, Paul Smith and Foundation.

All ticket holders will be offered a FULL refund from point of purchase OR alternatively you can transfer your tickets to the TG-curated ATP weekend event at the same venue which is confirmed for April 15 - 17th 2005, at which TG have agreed to give their last ever concert performance.

All the other artists on the current RETG bill have been invited to play and in addition we anticipate the participation of a number of yet-to-be-confirmed 'high-profile' special guests whose previous schedules did not allow them to take part in this year's festival.

TG have asked us to pass on their personal apologies to everyone for the obvious inconvenience these rearrangements will cause and to stress that this situation was NOT the band's doing.

Mindful that many people will have already booked travel to the UK from afar, TG have decided to invite all CURRENT ticket holders to a PRIVATE RECORDING SESSION at a secret location in central London on the AFTERNOON of Sunday May 16th (the same day they would have played at RE~TG ).

This invitation is FREE & ONLY available to current ticket holders and is offered regardless of whether you also select a full refund of your ticket money or you choose to transfer your ticket to ATP 2005.

RE~TG ticket holders will be notified directly and the details listed on the ATP and TG website in the next few days.
This recording session event will not be open to the general public.

The result of the recording will be a totally new TG work - & released as a TG DVD later in the year

Exclusive TG related artifacts, some which were intended for sale @ RE~TG will be available exclusively for sale at the recording session.

All those concerned in the realisation of RE~TG are very sorry to disappoint all those who were looking forward to RE~TG event, and are working hard to make up, in whatever practical way we can, to overcome this otherwise insurmountable problem.

RE~TG has constantly suffered from scurrilous rumours of Throbbing Gristle playing at other events in various parts of the world.

Please be aware that TG will not be playing at ANY other events whatsoever & ATP @ Camber Sands on 15-17 April 2005 is TG's only & final public performance
